FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) is Google's free push notification service. MySMSGate uses it as a wake-up mechanism for Android phones.
Why FCM Is Needed
Android aggressively kills background apps to save battery. When the MySMSGate app is idle, the phone might stop polling for new SMS jobs. FCM solves this by sending a lightweight push notification that wakes the app up.
Flow
- API request arrives → SMS queued on server
- Phone is offline (sleeping) → server sends FCM push
- Android OS receives push → wakes up MySMSGate app
- App resumes polling → picks up pending SMS
